Life Jackets and Float Plans
The United States Coast Guard requires that all boats be equipped
with Personal Flotation Devices (life preservers) for each person
aboard.
The USCG also urges all boaters to file a Float Plan before going
on the water. A life jacket or life preserver for each passenger and
a life preserver is needed. To buy lifejacket and understand life
jacket care and life preserver care and pfd care ask when you buy

achild lifejacket or life jacket care, also remember the do's and
don'ts.
Both nautical tips have proven to save lives. life preservers keep
accident victims afloat until help arrives. Float Plans help search
and rescuer personnel locate missing boaters.

New Law for Kids
Recent federal regulations, enforceable Jan. 1, 2003, also require
youths under 13 wear an approved life ring whenever a recreational
vessel is underway unless below decks or in a closed cabin. Penalties
for not meeting this requirement will range from a written warning
to fines of $1,100 for each violation, although the recommended penalty
is $50 to $250 for each violation. To buy life jacket and understand
life jacket care and pfd care and life ring care ask when you buy
life ring or buy life preserver for boat safety tips and get a child
life jacket or life jacket, also remember the do's and don'ts.
The reason for the stiff penalties is that, according to the United
States Coast Guard, 85 percent of all annual boating fatalities are
attributed to failure to use personal flotation devices. Among those
tragedies, about 60 percent of the victims fell overboard without
a life ring.
Note: Anyone operating or riding a Personal Water Craft (PWC) is required
by law to follow boat safety tips and wear a personal flotation device.
PWC types include waverunners, skidoos and other such watercraft.
